FLUENCY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE OR MASTERY IN MOTHER TONGUE?

Language had been part of everyone. Each of us has his/her own language. It shows the culture of the place where we live. Like for example, us, Filipinos, we live in the Philippines and so we speak Filipino language. It may be in different forms but it is still the same. But of course, we encounter different things and had to deal with it. There, we learned about the English language.

Almost everyone in the world knew on how to speak the English language, which is usually the native of the west countries. And, in my own opinion, it is better to focus ourselves on the fluency of the English language. Why? It is because we, as Filipinos, have mastered our own language. We are taught of it even before we said our first word. It is already in our blood to speak a mastered Filipino language. And also, we should practice the English language for better communication with people, because, as they said, English is the world's commonly used language.

I am not saying that we should forget our own language. In fact, I love our language, but we don't just have to be stranded here. Instead, we should learn new things and gain more knowledge. But, of course, it is always important to look back to where we started.
